Dona-Illa: Dibuixos Tinta Xina

Dona-Illa: Dibuixos Tinta Xina

Designs: Women’s Island

Woman Island are drawings that emerged as an experiment and a game. Drawing without a definite intention initially it was obvious that it merged a relationship  between the body of a woman and an island.

The first drawings were cartoons characters that dressed an island, later the island became humanized and, finally, appeared women islands.

I focused on drawing Women islands for only a few days. I made use of Chinese ink on paper, in a larger format, because this technique allowed me to make a drawing direct and intuitive. I wanted to explore and express the effects that had been taking place in me during a long stay in an island.

Now in the drawings I did I can distinguish everyday moments as reading on the beach or swiming. Also, intimate experiences and unconsciousness, which belongs to the night , the world of dreams and our own ancestral roots. (That night there was a full moon and the sea was very deep).
